I found this at gamewornjersey.com.....
It all comes down to "If it sounds too good to be true... it is!"
I am sorry to hear this has happen and have watched it unfold in our G/W community. But I can honestly say I wouldn't have touched that with a 10 foot pole. I guess I'm a skeptic when it comes to that stuff.
My story....(get a beer this may take some time) I bought a couple of Mystick jerseys from a guy this spring. He had advertised them in both of the forum sites. His answers to my questions were very odd and I suggested using a third party but he wanted no part of that and backed out. FLAG! A week later he e-mailed me back (new addy) and lowered the price $100!!! FLAG! I still wanted some guarantee... He offered to send me the jersey for me to look at before paying. FLAG! I thought "Okay, that's the end of this one". 3 Days later one of them shows up. It's good so I send payment. He wanted me to pay for the second jersey at that time but I declined. He stated he didn't have the money to ship another one in that manner (USPS w/tracking? $5?) FLAG! The following week the other shirt shows up and I send payment. Good deal... 2 jerseys of a folding ECHL team at a fair price.
A few weeks go by and I call the Mobile FO to see if they will issue LOA's if I send them pics of the shirts. I give them the info (boy this getting long) says he needs to do some research and will get back with me.
In the meantime, the seller gets in touch with me again (with a new e-mail addy again) FLAG! and he has a Mobile Margarittaville #17 "Jason Elders", their most popular player. Now I'm wondering what's going on. He knew I was #17 collector and this just pops up? Those sold for $1000 in the team auction and an Elders... well he was the only player to play for them the entire 7 years of their exhistance. He wants $200!!! FLAG!
Meantime the guy from the Mysticks calls back and wants this guy's name or any info I can give him (of course, I have his address, phone number and three different e-mail addys). SOMEONE had been stealing jerseys from the office and his buddy was fencing them. I knew it!!! It was Too good to be true!
Long story short.. (It's impossible now isn't it?) The team had the guys arrested and they told me to keep the two I already had as they were not anyone special and they appreciated my cooperation. Apparently it had been going on for a few months but they had no trails to follow.
