Hi Jim:
Yup, there are some very stongly iron stained areas along Geiger grade. There are quite a few areas around Northern Nevada with stong iron mineralization staining that I dont think would be of much interest to the nugget shooter.

I don't know if you were aware that some of the areas on the NW flank of Peavine were drilled in the early 1970's and some indications of a deep porphry system were found. That might account for some of the iron staining around the mountain, but still not much potential for gold (though I do know of one small placer on the N side of Peavine).
