Howdy Uncle Ron, I hope the Arizona sun is not bearing down too hard and you are getting out. Glad to read your post.

Like you I believe there are a pockets left; as my grandpappy "Dragline" once said: Most pockets have now been found; but if the area is considered to be hunted out it is a matter of who has been doing the hunting.

The Salmon River and its "watershed" have been noted for both lode and placer gold. As for me, I'm more at home in the dry-placer areas.
