Subject: Sad News--- San Radding is now gone....

Sam and I go back more than 20 years. He was a gifted small boat builder in the San Diago area. Also into making
guitars. Whatever Sams interests were he excelled. He wrote several volumes on the plans on making prospecting/mining
equipment. He serously drywashed in the various areas, not only in the deserts of the southwest but in some of the rivers of the California motherlode during low water when
some of the sandbars were dry.

His booklet on drywashing, the one printed in 1996 is (IMO) the best "reading" on the technical art of drywashing. I do not say this that Sam is now gone, I have been recommending his booklet as the best. His explanations clear and concise.

I had been trying to reach Sam for about a year with no success. I did not undertand why until I heard about his passing from Frank Greenwood at the GPAA gold show in San Bernardino earlier this month. Frank was not sure however. Yesterday I got an email from Les Berg who took the time out of his busy schedual to confirm this loss.
