Use less gain/sensitivity.

GB to neutral in a clean area away from any trash/hot rocks.

Use all metal

Stray EMF's can cause noise... wipe the machine down with
drywasher "static eliminator."

Bury a jefferson nickel down about 5-inches and play with
the setup until it can be best heard.

Your Scorpion operates at about 15-16 kHz and is the latest
version of the Ground Hog series that saw action in the
late 1970s Australian "eluvial gold" renaissance.

Most everyone doesn't know how to use it and don't like it.
The manual is not the best. And care must be taken to change
the three nine-volt batteries... The battery life is short
so buy the best... it is also heavy and awkward...

But if you learn it's secrets you will like it...
