Pat--- The LS is a great machine. Basically it is simple, but it has its "secrets." Unfortunately, the 10x14-inch DD is not sensitive to sub-GRAM gold. However, it will punch down through the alkali overburden to the bedrock. Try to stay in areas where the bedrock is shales.

Make sure your coil cable is straight up the shaft; do not extend the lower stem past the upper two holes; otherwise some wobble. Keep the swing level and slow; listen for the HIGH/lows. Do not use but a "tad" of disc just to smooth out the threshold; otherwise you will not find any gold. Ground Balance as necessary and then go to lock.

Very sensitive to outside electrical disturbance. Distant thunderstorms, electrical energy from motors can be a problem. The monos are a better choice with the PI-types. Try to get one as soon as available
