thanks for posting the newsa bout the review of the TDI.
I will be leaving Oman in about 6 weeks and heading back to Arizona. I'll get a copy when I get home. Looking forward to starting this winter hunting for gold in AZ.
I had APO mail service during my 4 years here in Oman and managed to get hold of some "interesting" detectors. I've got a Compass Gold Scanner Pro, a Compass AU-52, a Tesoro Diablo micromax and a TDI.
Air testing these here in Muscat with some small 18kt gold beads (0.1, 0.3 and 0.5 grams) which my wife's Indian jeweler (don't ask!) made up for me of - I find that the 3 VLF machines pick up the smallest bead (0.1 gram is about 1.5 grains) at about 1 - 3 inches. The TDI won't pick up the smallest one but outperforms the VLF's on the other 2.
Of the VLF's the AU-52 and the GSP are about equal and the Diablo is last for air test depth.
It will be interesting to play with these in the field when I get back. I guess I'll be keeping one VLF for low mineralization and "microjewelry". the Tesoro has the advantage of being really light and handy, but the GSP and AU-52 have discrimination which can be pretty handy in trash.
