Subject: I went to Randsburg yesterday and...

I went to Randsburg yesterday and did a little metal detecting with my MXT. I took off at 8:30 am and got there at about 11:00. I spent most of my time driving around just looking. I went to Ridgecrest to get gas and have a quick lunch. The old man at the general store in Randsburg was very nice. He told me I could metal detect on his claim. This was about 2:00 pm so I didn't have much time and I had to get back home by 7:00 so I had to leave by 4:00. This gave me only two hours to get to his claim and hunt. He told me to go down the road east about 3 miles and near a yellow sign that says "soft shoulder" turn left off the road and go back about 3 miles and hunt. He told me he was the only one that had a claim back in there so I could hunt anywhere. I drove my new 2 wheel drive Acura TL all the way back in without a problem. Thank god it was dry or I would have been stuck. I put my small DD coil on my MXT and started looking around for tailings. I did find some claim markers but not many tail piles. I detected here for about 45 minutes found a few bullet fragments then got back in my car looking for more tailings. I came to a hill that had alot of tailing so up I went. I took a garden hoe and after detecting the top I knocked off about 4" and detected again. After that I just started detecting over open ground and around bushes. All together I found about twenty very small bullet fragments, a couple shell casing and only one nail. I new my MXT was working right because I took a small nugget with me to test with. The area I was in might have been worked out, I don’t know. If I only had more time I might have found something. These bullets are still a treasure to me and I also picked up some very cool looking rocks. There was quartz all over the place. I found one rock with crystals on it. So I did find some treasure but no gold. I made it back home in time for a meeting at 7:30. What a day! I had a blast! I am looking forward to meeting Randy Seden on the 19th of this month. I might get a dry washer too one of these days. For you guys who nugget shoot I have a question. On an average, how many bullet fragments do you dig per nugget you find?

Thanks, HH,
Gregg Blasingame, Porterville Ca.
