Hello Bill--- I took my 2200d to the beach--- just once. Kept the coil raised so it would not be in the salt water. A little rust later formed around one of the Control Box screws. However, the 2200 worked well and I found a large man's ring--- Gold and a stone--- at a pretty good depth. As per earlier agreement I gave all of the finds to Hye who was with me. I did not want to set the 2200d down on the sand or get it wet. Just wanted to see how it performed. As you know the Minelab coils are not considered "waterproof."

No problem with the Infinium--- I took it once to the beach to see how it would do; but I'm not into salt/fresh water detecting. I found that using it in the water I had to make sure at end of stroke the cable did not shift and false the search coil. Also, used just a little disc--- about 1/2 point-- less than to "1" to clean up threshold. Also, if the lower stem is extended out to the last two-three positions the pole wobbles slightly.

However, I'm just into using it for nugget shooting where the VLF-types, from 5 to 70 kHz just can't cut it; even with a small DD coil. Strictly PI-type territory. Even some of the areas are so "mineralized" the SD, GP, and LS can be noisy.

You mention having a 2100. I really like the 2100--- Understanding--- setting--- the Channels critical. With the 2200d and also the GP Extreme it is the "level-adjust" that is critical The LS Infinium seems to be much simplier as it has fewer controls--- but it has its secrets; I'm just learning!

Please give me a post jimstraig@earthlink.net about any "tricks." Or if you have a problem maybe I have found the solution. Use "Infinium" as the subject due to SPAM.

With any machine; it is the selection--- availability of coils that can be critical. I hope more accessory coils are soon available for the Infinium.

I know what you mean about using "rev-disc" but it has limitations. Some ferrous w/n cancel out.
