Hi Ralph,

You got that right. I make a real point of telling people this is "Alaska Only" info, and that is the reason that in general I do not post the stuff outside the Alaska Gold Forum. Some of it may apply elsewhere, some may not.

That, and the "tests" are just question and answer stuff, not any kind of official anything! It's just "I tried this, and that, and observed this". I do this kind of playing around a lot, and can either keep it to myself, or share it. If it helps out anyone at all, hopefully by getting them to at least ask the same questions, then it's worthwhile to post it.

I'm fairly sick of the depth tests per se, but am mostly trying to find out gross differences in performance. Like try the Gold Bug 2 in all metal mode, then find same target in iron id. In all metal I was hitting a 5 ounce nugget at 15" with the GB2. Switch to iron id, the same nugget would not beep until 10". Massive depth of detection difference!

I'm off to hunt gold for five days this weekend, so hopefully a tale or two to tell next week!
