Subject: what is best state or area to dredge/electronic prospect

I currently live in Texas and am thinking about moving out West. I would like to move someplace where I can maybe dredge during the warmer months and electronic prospect the rest of the time. What would be the best state or area in which to do this? It would have to be near a medium size city in order for my full time job to work out. I know this is very general,but I thought you old pros could give me some advice. For example, would Calf. be the best or nothern Arizona or maybe Nevada. Just need some general advice. Thanks
