GMT finds smaller pieces (which may not be of importance to some) and the GMT has a much wider dynamic range, which means it handles "bad" ground better than the 18000. (Which is of particular importance to those of use who detect in AZ and CA, and OZ). The GMT iron id is the best available on a prospecting machine (which may not mean much to some). And the GMT is more robust, especially the searchcoils. The only advantage the 18000 has over the GMT is the selection of different sized coils available. Just my two grains worth. HH Jim
