Subject: Rosebud: 50/50 JV - Newmont and Hecla

Jim -
Hecla did a large scale underground project at Rosebud in the late 90s (Hecla operated the Lucky Friday mine in Idaho for so many years). The project was a JV with Newmont (of Carlin mine fame). The two companies mined 386,297 oz gold and 1,254942 oz silver from 1997 to 2000 underground at Rosebud. Low prices for gold and silver and depletion of higer grade ores shut the project down.
