Subject: Where can I metal detect near Randsburg?

I am going to go nugget shooting somewhere and I am thinking of Randsburg. Does anyone here hunt in this area?
I know I probably won't find anything but still I love to metal detect and dream of the chance of finding a small nugget with my detector. Will I need a 4 wheel drive or is a two wheel truck alright? If I just go up there and take of detecting across the desert is that ok or might I get shot for trespassing on someones claim that I am unaware of? Any info you can give me would be much appriciated. Thank you, Gregg in Porterville Ca.
