Hi Randy,

I may not be clearly understanding you here, but here goes.

When you ground balnce the LST in all-metal, then switch to disc, the last ground balance setting is locked in. So you do have a "fixed GB/Disc mode". The problem, of course, is that you cannot manually adjust it. If the ground changes, you will not know it, as there is no threshold in the disc mode. And so you can end up out of balance easily in varying ground.

If you see a visual clue, like changing ground color, switch to all-metal, rebalance, then switch back to disc.

My trick with the threshold on the GB2 also appplies to the Lobo. Advancing the threshold in disc will give you more sensitivity, even though you cannot hear an actual threshold.

My father uses the LST exclusively, and has found many ounces of gold in the disc mode. He usually runs 2 to 2.5 on the disc setting. Tunes out most iron trash while still getting most gold. With the small coil it is very hot on smaller gold even in disc mode. A very good detector! On our last outing he got about two ounces set up this way.
