To make this short and sweet: The Compass Magnum 420 is the top of the line of the Magnum series. I have its little brother, the Magnum 240, which was factory modified with a sensitivity contol plus an audio frequency control due to my hearing loss. To make a long story short I gave found eluvial gold at Dome Rock area near Quartzsite with it using both the standard coil as well as the smaller nugget coil. The sensitivity control is/was the same on the 420. There is an in-between model, as I recall it may be the 320. I still have all of them in a storage box on my shelf with extra coils. As I best recall it operates around 10 kHz.
