I suppose I'm butting in, but I thing the Sierra Max a good coil in open areas where the mineralization is moderate. I "wore" my first one out--- my fault as I'm really aggressive with my coils--- and had to pay out of warranty for a "fix." However, White's repair sent me a new one for the "fix" price (I busted off one of the coil mounting lugs--- as I say, I'm aggressive). I like to hunt around the brush and rocks; less "hammered."

For the price, a new Sierra Max with a coil cover is a great deal, you will enjoy using it.
