Hi Trapper,

I live in Colorado but do most of my detecting in AZ. I have much better luck down there. I really haven't spent the time in Colorado looking for gold with a detector. I should but it is tough to get in places. Tomorrow I will spend a little time up by Granite but it will be more for experimenting with my modified PI to see if there are any surprises I need to address after making some changes.

Actually, I haven't been over to Georgia gulch or American gulch but did go to the top of Farncomb hill and spent a little time several years ago. The ride up from French Gulch is a trip. Don't want to meet a vehicle on the way up. There is just enough room for one vehicle and only two places to pass and both vehicles had better be small and have a tight turning radius. Near the top, you ride the edge of a shear drop, the old site where the old timers boomed the side of the mountain. You can spit about 600 to 1000 feet from the window of your vehicle and never worry about it hitting anything on the way down.

I have just driven up Swan gulch a couple of times but never tried to get to American and Georgia. I was just looking the country over.

Some nice wire gold has come out of that part of the country. It was in that general area where a couple people I know were leveling the unworked piles of clay and rock and picking up some of the wire gold. They were working private ground with permission.

What I would like to find is a nugget from Pennsylvania Mountain. It is the strangest gold I have ever seen. It almost looks like gold suger cubes, very grainy, like it is minute granules of gold sort of stuck together. I have been up in that part of the country once also, but wasn't successful.

The former owner showed me a half of a quart jar of the stuff he claimed he got from part of a days operation. It was pretty, but weird looking gold, nothing like I had ever seen before.

Getting back to the area you mentioned, I would give it a try. I need to get back up there and take a look at it. For me it is about a 3 hours drive.

Reg
