I agree with you Steve, no detector is perfect. I have a GM4b which is my #1 machine, a GMT which the girls love, a GM3 for back up, a GB2 becouse alot of the area up here is fly speck gold and the little 6" coil is hard to beat for the small stuff. I have several lower rods for the GM series and I have 2 mono's, 2 DD's and 2 SGM's all mounted to lower rods ready to just plug in and go. Most of my detecting is done with the SGM coil. I also have a XLT with various coil sizes for coin hunting. But if I could afford it I would also own a Minelab just in case. I tell people that ask that I metal detect becouse it is fun and beats running a shovel. But if your not finding any thing it is real tempting just to take a nap. So in my opinion if you can only afford one detector get all the coils for it, becouse you just never know which will produce for you on a dry day. Clint/Idaho
