oxalic is the best..........
HF is NOT, the answer, it will clean the quartz alright, right off of the gold, it eats quartz right up, and its nasty stuff..................dont play with HF unless you have the gear, and know how..................

ps..........some collectors want to see the quartz stained, and natural as found so if its something you want to sell someday, leave it as is.............
