Steve,

Most of the time I did run it quiet. The starting point that is suggested in the manual (Sens 5, Threshold 5) is a very good basic setting. Around Rich Hill there were a few places I had to (raise ?) the threshold to -10 or -15 and once in a while drop the Sens to 4. Also I was able to raise the Sens to 6 and run the threshold at -5 to 0 on occasion. These settings were with the tracking on.

The biggest thing I noticed in the short time I used it was that in the milder ground where I could run at sens 6 and threshold 0 with the tracking on I could usually raise the sens to 7 or 8 and drop the threshold to +1 by turning the tracking OFF. With the tracking on at those higher settings the machine seemingly wanted to IMMEDIATELY track to every hot rock, which presented problems in areas where they were in abundance. Where there were few hot rocks it ran fine with the tracking on at the higher settings.

At +1 there is a faint threshold with good phones.
Tom
