Hey thanks for that Ralph,
being smoother in bad ground, and the GM3 being a bit more sensitive is what you would normally expect from the different coils, the diablo having DD and the GM3 the concentric. Still, I would've thought the diablo at 17khz would've had better depth than the goldmasters.
The one thing that had woried me about the diablo umax was the fact that it only had a three turn ground balance. I would've loved to have swung one which would've avoided all these questions.
Well if you're still swinging a GM3, you must be doing quite well with it. I'm a bit of a manual GB man myself. Know what you mean by wanting to know what's happening under your coil.
