Note that the USGS map has 40' contours http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?z=19&n=4892474&e=288826&s=25
so the highest contour is 5240', then adding half a contour gives 5260'. That is the way the AMC list is made up when the map doesn't give an elevation.

Note that BM elevations often differ from map contours, in Maine by up to 2 contour intervals. These come from different government agencies (the BM elevations are actually from the National Geodetic Survey [www.ngs.noaa.gov] formerly Coast and Geodetic Survey) who apparently are in no hurry to resolve it. To be consistent, the AMC uses map elevations only. The Trailwrights just use the highest contour without adding half. You can decide which is best for yourself, they all climb the same mountain :-)
