Subject: How 'bout this dayhike? All 3 "Carters that Count"

First off, thanks, Mohammed for a great Web site!

This last weekend I did a long dayhike I haven't seen discussed much:

19-Mile Brook trail to the Carter Dome Trail to Zeta Pass
Carter-Moriah Trail south over Hight to Carter Dome
Carter Dome Trail north back to Zeta Pass (bypassing Hight)
Carter-Moriah Trail north over South Carter to Middle Carter
Reverse direction on Carter-Moriah back to Zeta Pass a third time
Back down Carter Dome Trail to 19-Mile Brook trailhead

Thus I hit all three Carter peaks that are official 4000-footers (North Carter doesn't count) and the only real steep stretch was going up from Zeta Pass to Hight. I figured it was about 14+ miles and 4600 feet. Took me about 9.5 hours, which was pretty much book time.

Some neat things about this hike were:

* It was a challenging dayhike without being too gruelling... of course this is just my frame of reference
* From a peakbagging standpoint it breaks up the Carter/Wildcat range into three dayhikes (the two Wildcats would be a separate trip, as would be Moriah)
* It's a rare dayhike that knocks off 3 4000-footers -- the only other similar one I can think of is Jackson/Pierce/Ike (Willey/Field/Tom is much easier)
* Doing Carter Dome (and Hight) first gets the highest peak out of the way early
* If you want to make the trip a bit easier you can skip Hight and just take the Carter Dome trail both ways, but Hight definitely has better views than any of the Carters
* If need be, you can turn back in any number of places while still having accomplished something

Whaddya think?
