Subject: Mendon Peak from the AT/LT

Many years ago...perhaps in 1995, I hiked to Pico Pk., Killington Pk., and Mendon in one day, starting and finishing at the Rt. 4 trailhead. I approached Mendon Pk. from the east, heading into the woods at about the point where the Shrewsbury Pk. trail cuts off the AT/LT. I found the going quite easy, using a compass to head west, and eventually made my way to the summit (and canister) with minimal difficulty. For the return trip I backtracked and came out very close to where I had headed in. This is a good first bushwhack (to a 100 highest) for someone not experienced with this business.
