Subject: There are not enough hours in the week to run school with several classes per week and also give privates to all students. If a teacher has say three spare hours a week, she can then obviously only offer hour long privates to three students. OP have you even asked your TC if your dancer can have a private? Would you even want to pay for a private ever week? can you....

commit to getting her to a private every week, think of the extra time and money that this would cost you over a year.

Our school offered privates to anyone who wanted them and there was a big rush to sign up, but pretty quickly most dropped out because of the commitment. Mums book a private and then cancel at the last minute without a thought that they are leaving hour long gaps in the schedule where someone else could have had that time and leaving the teacher without that hours pay (because of course they believe that even though they cancel 10 minutes before the class is due to start, they should not have to pay).

If you and your dancer really want to commit to having privates, then you need to approach your TC and say something like "Is there any chance Suzie could have a private with you if you ever get an opening in your schedule?". That then lets the TC know that you are interested (and that you know that privates are happening). if your dd is a hard worker, I could think of no reason why the TC would then not keep you in mind if she has time.

In the mean time, have your dd ask the TC what specifically she can work on at home. Show that she is committed to working hard at her dancing. Buy dd a note book and whatever the TC tells her to work on, dd writes it down so that she can remember what she is told. She can then do her home practice and write down what she does and if the tc has time, dd can show it to her so that TC can see how she is following her instructions.

To be honest privates are great if you have a very dedicated dancer who will also practice at home and work at what they have learned. However, they are a waste of time and money if a dancer just does their regular classes, does their privates and no other work at home. There are still dancers at our school who do their classes, do their expensive privates and come to class the following week having forgotten new steps etc because they just went home and watched tv and didn't give what they learned another thought.

Privates are not a magic bullet to stardom if the dancer is not willing to work.
