Subject: Australian Board

The title of this board appears to be Australian Irish Dance Message Board. Is that true ? Then if so we can talk about all the other organisations that represent Irish dance around the world and in Australia.
Did you know that there are at least 10 other Irish dancing bodies? An Coimisiun is by far the largest but the others have a decent representation in their respective markets.
WIDA(www.irish.dance) is one of those bodies that is beginning (slowly) to grow in Australia and we would like to point out a few things to those whom are interested in options.
As a fee paying person who is paying someone to teach you or your child(ren) you actually have a choice. The school or academy that you are currently attending does not own you as some of the instructors appear to assume.
Not every dancer wants to be a world champion and many children and adults attend classes for fun, fitness and socialistaion.
WIDA is not An Coimisiun and neither are the the other bodies that are operating in Australia (CRN and CIDA) but they are offering something that may be of interest to those who are tired of the expense, pressure and expectation that goes along with being an Irish dancer today.

Check out their web sites and if you have a question contact them directly as I am sure they will only be too delighted to dispel some of the stories that are constantly spouted out by those who should know better.

2019 is going to be a year of change for the world and our little world of Irish dancing is not immune to the many changes that will occur. Look around and make the right choice for you whether that is An Coimisiun or any other organisation that is representing Irish dancing around the world. Happy 2019
