Author: I feel sorry for those that struggle with money, but their girls love to dance
Subject: No you’re not the only one. It’s become a competition to out do each other now in the dress designs. It’s become big business now so I don’t think it’s going to end anytime soon. I’ve even seen a dress with short sleeves, which I thought was a no go area as well. Just makes this a elitist hobby for those with money.
In reply to: .. 's message, "Am I the only person who thinks the costumes have gone way over the top with diamontes and nothing celtic or irish about them. Maybe it's time the commission brought in some rules or design suggestions. They certainly can't go any shorter and only a couple of years ago dancers were forbidden to wear dresses deemed too short, Parents are so gullible that they're paying whatever they're told. Any price to be different." on Wed, Jul 10 2019, 16:39:49"

  • It may not end any time soon but the numbers in Irish Dancing have dropped considerably over the las couple of years and I would guess the cost has a lot to do with it. $3500 or more for a girls dress is obscene and that's just the start.
