Subject: Feeling a bit ripped off

Thinking I was doing the right th8ng for my daughter, I bought a dress from an overseas dresses maker, because the teacher “advised” I should go with this company.
I took the 600 pound ($1100) package for crystals, only to find they are not real crystals but are actually plastic. Also the stitching is very poor quality and already coming apart.
If you are advised that it is “school policy” to purchase your dress from a particular UK dressmaker, ask what your consumer rights are in the event that the product is substandard for any reason. Ie., Will the school cover any warranty issues? This is very important. I should have realised that purchases from overseas are exempt from Australian consumer guarantee protections. Stand up, as it is your money after all!
