 So as not to tie up the game ... the answer is Judy Norton Taylor ... who played Mary Ellen Walton and was a doctor by the time the series ended (her 2nd husband on the Waltons, Jonesy, was a Vet)... appeared on the Close Encounters episode of Higher Ground as the Vet who was called in to tend to the mysterious sick horse who found it's way to Horizon after the Cliffhangers encountered it during rock climbing training. This is also the episode that Scott runs away because his father and step-mom are due to visit ... Peter goes after him and brings him back, where he confronts his dad and step-mom.

I love being able to identify other actors when they make guest appearances ... my best find is identifying Irish actress Geraldine Hughes in an episode of ER (either season 4 or 5) and then again in a Murder She Wrote TV movie filmed in Ireland. I first seen this actress in the 1984 American TV movie Children in the Crossfire ... the kids in this movie were around 12 yrs old at the time and were profiled in the Canadian TV Guide.
