Hey Scott,

I thought it might have been you.
When we went down to Crete the last time our Lt was
Lt Phillips. She was a nice person but in my opinion she was in the wrong unit.

Lt Phillips was very religious. One day at the snack bar
she and I and our platoon Sgt, SFC Wilson I Believe, were having a philosophical discussion about what would happen if the baloon really went up. Her response was " Now come on Sgt Day you that aint gonna happen ". Her exact words.
We could not pin her down . Finally SFC Wilson finally said
" Lieutenant I would put a bullet in your brain and then I would push the launch button."

Like I said.....she was a nice person but did not have the
temperament to be a platoon leader in a nuclear outfit.
Her attitude was probably a violation of the PRP.

I did enjoy those trips to Crete. Got to go 3 times since I extended. Best time was the last time. Me and couple of buddies had already seen the ruins at Knossos and the touristy stuff so we hired a cab for the whole day. Cost about 60,000 drachma I think. But the best part was seeing all the stuff off the beaten path. Took us to see some shrines up on a mountain a goat would not hike to.
Also saw the grave of Nikos Kazantzakis. Considered a heretic by the church so was not buried in hallowed ground.

I think Rivers, like anything else was what you made of it.
Yeah if you just hung around the barracks all weekend getting drunk you might call it a Zoo.
Personally I saw it as a great opportunity to see the world
and to work with some great people and be part of something greater than oneself. Corny as that may sound.

When I got out back in 84 I settled in Houston Tx
( Yee Hahh! )and started a photography business. That lasted about 10 years. I now own a smal computer shop.
Hey......remember the recruiter said as a 15D you get to work with computers. Light turns green....turn the knob
Light turns green....turn the knob
Light turns green....turn the knob

HA! Not much crossover to the civilian market.
Oh well?

Nice to hear from you Scott.
