I served in the C Battery 2/92 Artillery unit stationed there in august 67 to march 1970....i know the place well...i was on guard duty in the motorpool during the lunar landing that night.....i remember the Rondezvou(em club) and the Ratskeller(NCO club), the service club and all the fine babes(uso girls) that worked there.... in the building that had the px and photoshop in it..summer graf and winter graf...the late night alerts while we were out drinking like crazy..that was a site to see....those bombed out building had supposedly had tunnels under them and they were flooded out...there was a rumor that there was an underground motorpool under the parade field but rumors are rumors..but anything is possible...do you also know that Rivers barracks was formerly named Verdun Kaserne and was used as a support group base for the Nazis.??.i remember the 3/79th,the 6/9th,the 517th honest john rocket unit also...we had 155's,105's and of course our self propelled 8inch Howitzers there
