If you are conflicted and uncomfortable with it, then don't make it available. Fics are an outlet for creativity or private emotions so if it is something that you personally have a problem with others reading, then I wouldn't put it out into the world. However, If you yourself would feel better about it if the names were changed etc - if your gut instinct is telling you to pull back because you are worried people will recognise you and your family in it and will judge you on that, then changing names is possibly the best solution. But seriously, unless you are 100% sure that you want other people to read it, then I would keep it private until you are sure one way or the other - it's not like there is a deadline for fic putting-uppering ;)
and Lindsay and Jana thanks for the sympathy:) My head was killing me for a few days - I banged it on a shelf unit as I passed out apparently (I have no recollecion of this) but it is better now - well getting there. Over the last couple of days I have also watched Ally a LOT - I kinda had a Matthew watching marathon - the best therapy there is, I think:)
