If I remember correctly, his agent inputted his name into the "outstanding lead performer in a comedy series" catergory for the Emmys by accident, as he (until this year) is in the "outstanding supporting..." and he withdrew saying that they were all a team and it wasn't fair etc. Irony is..that was probably his best chance of winning that year (it was for the season 6 consideration), and many pundits tipped him to win something. I haven't heard his name tipped in connection with Ally Mcbeal - and guest appearance is a hugely difficult catergory as so many stars do do the guest thing now, but it would be incredible for him to be nominated.
