Buttermilk Cream Pound Cake

1 cup butter (no substitutes), softened
½ cup shortening
1 (3-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2½ cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups cake flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Strawberry ice cream topping
Sliced fresh strawberries (optional)

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening, and cream cheese. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine the dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in extracts. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch fluted tube pan.

Bake at 325º for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan to a wire rack. Serve with strawberry ice cream topping and fresh strawberries if desired. Yield: 12-16 servings.
