All I can say is that there was no musicianship in Miss Capital City's performance. There was one dynamic through the entire piece LOUD and BLASTING. And can I ask where the melody was? I know the hymn Amazing Grace and I didnt hear it tonight. TOO MUCH ORNAMENTATION. Miss Darlington is a great pianist. Her rehearsal was much better but still she was good. I think she was much better than Miss Capital City. Miss Greater Pee Dee was outstanding tonight. There was more musicianship in her entire performance than I have seen in the whole competition. The dymanics were great and well executed. Her stage presences and the way she connected with her audience was outstanding. She is the one who gave me chills. The only chill I got from Miss Capital City was out of gratefulness that she stopped and i could unplug my ears from the torture. Several of the dancers were good too and I think they showed more talent there than the winner.
I think a big part of the problem is the judges being vocalists. Coming from a person who has judged vocalists and holds a degree in vocal performance it is harder for a vocalist to win against someone out of the vocal genre. People generally judge harder in their field than out of their field. I feel sorry for all the vocalist because honestly I dont think they get a fair chance at talent. Miss Greater Pee Dee you were so deserving yet robbed. Thank you for giving me chills and making my night worth being at the pageant.

[> [> [> Subject: Let it Go! Miss Capital City actually ENTERTAINED the crowd. Last I checked, that is part of the talent score. This is her 3rd talent preliminary in 4 years, 15 judges from across the country can't be wrong. Outstanding is not a word I would use to describe Pee Dee. As for getting robbed, it was the audience of their 90 seconds of their lives they'll never get back having had to listen to Pee Dee screech. Her parents need to be proud of her volunteer scholarship and move on.

I am sure her Mom and Dad are proud of her volunteer scholarship. The only screeching i heard was from that awful saxophone. I am a vocalist and Miss Pee Dee was far from screeching. Also you would thank after four talent prelims she would be able to play a different piece or at least learn the melody of Amazing Grace. If you dont hold a music degree and are not going to be unbiased just dont say anything at all.

You must have a tin ear or just a plain old untrained ear. The mix and levels are getting better but still way off. I am telling you she has been the best vocalist by far. I was so impressed by her and that is hard to do because I am a music snob. I am very picky and generally feel uneasy with vocalists. From her beginning notes I just felt completely at ease.
I dont know who you are but please keep singing music seems to be in you.

That's the problem she played too many notes and the melody was completely lost. I am wondering does she even know what Amazing Grace sounds like. She should know what it is because it is only by grace that she won.>>Teen:

Pray God overlook your ignorance. I've heard Morgan play the entire piece, and it's wonderful. I'm sure she had it cut so she could capitalize on the parts that enhanced her ability to improv. If you've truly met her, you'd know she would not bash any other girl in the competition or their talent.

I will give her this, she was beautiful and the stage was hers. But sorry, she did not derserve talent tonight. Too many other good talents. Who in the world put all these girls in the same group?!?!?

can i echo this for a minute. SHE IS VERY UNAPPROACHABLE. She might not bash a girl on here but in person to person conversation she sure will. I have heard it and seen it take place. If you want to try to pass her off as being miss sweet then tell her to play the roll. Several palmetto princess have talked about how rude and unfriendly she is and in the mall yesterday. I actually had liked her until some of my friends over heard her being very ugly toward several contestants. People are listening and they see through the fake.

I am a musician and I would not want to say she has studied half her life because that just told everyone she really is not that dedicated and would make a terrible choice for Miss SC. Anyone who has played and studied half her life should have been able to play a more difficult piece. Should have been able to show a lot more musicianship and varied the timbres. All she did was blast it from start to finish and what song was she trying to play? It surely was not Amazing Grace.
Her Talent level that was displayed was equal to a high school sophomore. If she has been studying half her life and has been dedicated to her study she should surpass that level. If that is the way she shows dedication to her music how could she be dedicated to Miss SC?
