[> [> Subject: I'm not liking the long hair at all. It doesn't look good on her and it didn't work too well on stage. She needs to go super short. It would look great on her IMHO.
[> [> [> Subject: Length does not bother me, it's the curled or wavy hair that looks like a loose perm. Fuller more structured hair would look better for her.

A lot over the top. Too snooty and too much drama when she doesn’t win. A winner needs to have a better attitude towards other people. I like her hair longer but without all the curls. I also think she’s slightly on the short side for pageants.
[> [> Subject: Yeah, they zoomed in on her face after she was announced first runner-up and it did not look happy! She is a little on the short side... 5-2 or 5-3, I'm thinking... but it didn't help that she was standing next to the very tall Ali Rogers.

I guess it depends on how you are describing "BEST" Body and who is presenting the award...I thought category was FITNESS! Not tall skinny with celulite. Things that make you go hmmmmm. Unfortunate for the 3 contestants that were fit, slim, curvy and tone...

>How in the world did Cabaniss not win a swimsuit
>prelim? Best body and presentation!
She has everything. Her talent was fabulous. She is in another league from most of the talents. She looks great in a swimsuit and she is gorgeous. She also did well on the questions. Her answers were much better than Ali's and her talent was well above Ali.
[> Subject: Well there is CONFIDENCE and there is COCKY. I guess she was a little too cocky. She has it going on for sure, but it was a little much. Maybe the judges didnt like it.

i was a contestant this year and i can tell you first hand that all of the contestants were rooting for lauren to win. not ali. no one was a fan of her shady ways. there was a reason only her teen queen rushed out to hug her after she was crowned. maybe lauren did look upset but would you not look upset if you knew that you had beat ali in every category by a landslide and still chosen as first runner up? her likability factor was there, unless of course they were looking for a tall blonde for a reality show.
[> [> Subject: I agree completely with this poster! It is very hard to stand there and see your dream never materialized yet know that you beat the other contestant fair and square! Same thing for Teen. If you have watched all the teen contestants where clapping but with very somber faces!

You obviously didn't see Ali in person. '
[> Subject: Well, Miss America is a Reality Show of sorts. Did you see the judges ballots and are able to state Lauren beat Ali by a large margin in every category? I thought that was confidential information. When a contestant comes out with negative information that "all" the contestants wanted someone other than the winner to win, it sounds like a jealousy issue. I would say all the girls wanted to win themselves and ANY other winner would not suit them. IMO, from someone who knows no one in the pageant Lauren is too short, not as pretty as Ali, and her poor attitude was evident from the audience. I question the credibility of your statement. I think Ali's having so much going for her over and above most contestants going into the pageant would have intimidated a great many contestants..
[> Subject: Yeah, the only thing I can figure is that the judges didn't care for the "USA" style modeling. It seemed to be the thing to do in the top ten last year but this year's top ten was a bit more conservative. Not the first time that the best figure didn't win swimsuit so it probably proves that presentation counts as well as appearance.
[> [> Subject: Big difference with the judges from last year to this year. Last year they were young and nothing but party ready. This year they were very educated Miss America and looking for just that. They definetly got the right girl for the job. She will do well at Miss America. Everyone was saying she was gaining weight and would not do well before the pageant. Then she came ,won swimsuit, proved all of those people wrong and walked away with the crown. Now its a different story, different day and someone has to always say something negative about the winner. Get over it,move on and do what you have to do to come back, compete if you wish and have fun.
[> [> [> Subject: I personally think Ali will win Miss America and the judges got it right AND I am the mom of another Miss contestant. There was NO way the judges could leave Ali standing on that stage as anything but the winner.
[> Subject: Lauren has announced on her Facebook that she will be moving to USA. I'm not sure if this is a good move for her, since one of the things she has going for her is talent, and USA has no talent. Not to mention, she's only 5-2 or so... USA really wants tall girls.
[> [> [> Subject: I'm not sure why this would be considered unpostable, but I'll try again. It's obvious Lauren is going to overlooked in Miss SC, so why NOT try Miss USA?
[> Subject: Height use to be an issue but not anymore! The reigning Miss USA, Olivia the former Miss RI is not much taller than Lauren. I think Lauren will do a fabulous job at USA and plan to go and support her when she competes for Miss SC USA. Good Luck Lauren!
