Lots of great teens this year, some aged out but some will return! I am thinking this is the year we see some former teen winners compete in Miss.

Yes Emily Shultz is a great example. The girl is sweet and very talented. She can do well down the road. She just needs some maturity on the stage. Going from teen to Miss is tough especially competing against college graduates. The girl held her own though!

I totally agree! Didn't one Miss SC Teen get a DUI and have her parents get her out of it? Everyone knows but nobody ever says anything. Don't think she should compete again.

Personal opinion here.... so many who are just crown chasers. Very few girls continue their platform work beyond pageant seasons. It just shows they are in it for fame and status. Also itā€™s a pretty good indication if they didnā€™t do good at the national level as a teen (or in other systems) itā€™s not likely that will change much. Iā€™d much rather see girls from top ten and fifteen this year come back and possibly a few from years past who competed as teen and placed that are now mature and old
Enough to Compete in Miss. . No crown chasing models Please. We really need girls that have true grit and substance and who live their platforms daily and promote and work it contuvally not just for appearance or a crown! And please letā€™s crown more girls who have goals to ā€œdo moreā€ who have big dreams and can truly use the platform to help them get there. Ok rant over

And no more parents who buy their kids out of trouble. We don't need that either. Need girls who can keep their act together on their own.

It is like the great philosophers have written - hold ye in steadfast ways that ye shall be true to where you came from. Bullies on the playground grow up to be big bullies and that is not good. And then when the parents show up with their fat checkbook it is like they are just trying to buy their children out of trouble. Sadly today's society keeps asking that girls keep their acts together and to do it on their own. But history is rife with incidents of those who get always get and those that don't seem to do much but just hover right below keeping their act together on their own, Sadly a lot of the parents who buy their kids out of trouble have never visualized the paradoxes of their actions and it just fosters this whole notion of "not." These platforms have to be sustainable. You can talk and smile and be your message but if the platform can't transcend the interview room then it is all for naught.
