I did see it in the EXTRA edition of the Laurens Advertiser that comes out as a supplement to the Wednesday edition of the weekly paper. The Extra is delivered free on Saturday, so the article and photographs are a little late for a Saturday event at 5:OO PM. Unless I was a pageant enthusiast, I would not have time to change plans or make a decision to attend that late. As far as social media as an excellent means of conveying information to the general public, you have to inform the public in a primary media source (in this case the local paper) for the majority of Laurens Countians to know that they can follow the event on Twitter and Facebook. And in an OPEN pageant, your statement about (paraphrase) "it is Laurens County ." If girls from other areas are in it, wouldn't it make sense to send press releases to these area papers, too. Expand your horizons. When it is stated that a pageant is a resounding success, are we talking about a success in terms of attendance, finances, just surviving it, crowning the best contestant to represent your town, number of contestant, production/entertainment value or what? Just curious...From my experience, the word success on occasion meant no disgruntled parent or contestant read you the riot act or someone said the whole thing was rigged (LOL)! I actually am glad you feel the pageant was a success and some of my comments should not be construed as negative but constructive critcism. I wish you only the best in what can be a very stressful endeavor but ultimately very rewarding. With the winner you have this year, I will give you that the word success is very approprate. And for the person who piped in with "don't count your chickens before they hatch" (or whatever), I think what is going on about Ali is more about enthusiasm and optimism which I find very beneficial for everyone concerned...I haven't seen enough hatched chickens in Laurens County to count , but if I can find any, the chickens would probably be human beings...I know some of those chickens...
