The weather here on the Eastern Shore has been very nice, and with the 'Equispot' I use on the horses, they're not being bothered by biting flies, so the paddock prisoners seem happy enough.
My fliers still don't have their aviary, but all seem happy enough, in the loft bedroom.
Mina Scule has a new baby boy -- a single birth litter. She's taken over the bathroom nests, and I make sure she has the privacy. The baby was at least a week -- closer to 10 days -- before I realised Mina was 'brooding'. I'd have been happier with a pair, than a single, for when it's time to socialise, it's easier on Momma when she has one baby in the nest, whilst I'm 'playing' with the other.
Still, Mina may be ready to get some peace, when the baby's eyes open, and allow me to handle him. She's been very reasonable, when I open the nest to check on her. Looks up, but doesn't 'pounce' -- just waits a few moments, then pulls at the cotton, to cover herself and her baby up. She'll take a worm if I offer it, but won't leave the nest to eat it. I got a good look at her pup when she left the box for water.
Nothing much else to report, from the Elk River Ranch and Raccoon Refuge!
