  • RincePix Update - ECRO photos -- Steph - RincePix, Sat, November 21, 12:39:32pm
EARLY BIRD SPECIAL - Just a quick message to make those who were unaware that we have continued our event special of "tax and shipping included" to all orders received by the end of tomorrow, Sunday November 22nd (with payment made by Nov25th). This is to provide those whose photos were not available to view at the event the same opportunity to take advantage of the special as those who danced on Friday and had photos available to view/purchase.

We have also instituted a new bonus. For every 5 photos you order (anything but portraits qualify) you will receive and extra 5x7 COPY of one of the photos you've ordered.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to e-mail us (we're not checking the board religiously so you will definitely get a faster reply via email).

Thanks so much to everyone for the positive feedback so far!

    Warm regards,
    Steph

  • Irish dance music tutorial online at Diddlyi! -- Mark Arrington, Thu, November 19, 08:06:14am
Due to the response of the dance music timing tutorial I offered a few weeks ago, Diddlyi magazine is featuring a series on the topic! I'm addressing one tune type at a time with a timing diagram and a shortened narrative to fit the format. The first article, for which help is most frequently requested, is about understanding slip jigs. No knowledge of music reading or music time signatures is required to understand the timing. The website is www.mag.diddlyi.com. Anyone who wants the 15-page tutorial can send me an email at mark@markarringtonmusic.com

  • One thing that I found very frustrating was the compulsory "family fee" that had to be paid with the Oireachtas entry and many feis entries as well. I am an older champ dancer who went to the Oireachtas without my family, and was still forced to pay 40$ extra so other families could get in without paying on the day. I realize that there are not many people my situation, and I don't have a solution to propose for said problem. It just hits the pockets a little deep trying to pay for all this by myself. -- university dancer, Wed, November 18, 01:46:50pm

I am going to the printers today.

I can't remember the order in which I ran the results.

I know I need Ladies U18 (x6), 18-20 (x8) and 20+ (x10) but what about the guys? Did the guys already get theirs? I don't want to waste money here...

I know I announced U8/U9 first. Then I THINK I did all the boys U16 and upward then adults then girls U16 and up.

I will wait for confirmation from the masses before I head out...

  • RincePix Update - ECRO photos -- Steph - RincePix, Mon, November 16, 08:13:52pm
Just a quick update on the photos. As most of you who were at the booth realized Stuart is my computer guru. I can do most of the things he does, but he does them much faster and can multi-task much better than I do! The U8, U9, U16 and U17 awards are ready to be uploaded as soon as Stuart gets home and watermarks them. I'm working on the remainder as we speak.

    Trad Set Toe Point Photos
Yes, I'm aware the U9 and U11 folders are backwards (so for now just look in the opposite folder, the photos are there) and that the U13's are there twice. I would fix them now but the pics are on Stuart's computer so until he gets home they'll stay as they are. Sorry for the confusion!

So, just wanted anyone who is frantically checking that any new photos will be after 10pm for sure. Now..back to work for me!

  • Ok, I think it's time to drop the high and the low mark. I don't think it was just our comp but there were 3 judges who were way out of whack. It's not like Worlds where there are 130 dancers who are all amazing. These kids range from novice/prizewinner to world medal holders. And these judges can't tell the difference?! It can make a huge difference in placement with the Irish points system. -- ., Sun, November 15, 09:07:45pm
