we have a plug in cooler that comes in handy. Things don't get all wet in the ice. Alternative is to use big ziplock bags in a regular cooler to keep it all dry. (NT) -- :), Tue, November 03, 03:50:35pm

Just a question? Are most of the people that replied to this post from the GTA? I am from Niagara and the people here (that I know anyway) are not that big into latte's and such and we don't (NT) -- have Loblaws. Just an observation...LOL! Dinner/Dance Discussion: my hope is that the O organizing committee considers hosting the POC differently so that everyone can attend it for its own sake and not tie it to a dinner/dance that for many is not an appropriate or enticing event. -- concerned about the bashing, Sun, November 01, 09:26:15pm
How about doing a simpler POC like at NAN's? This is a suggestion from my 11 year old dancer. It quickly follows the awards of the day, doesn't consume 3-4 hours of the dancers' time when all they probably want to do is "parade" around the hotel, is very simple but still highlights the winners. Is the POC for attendees, judges, dancers, teachers, or all? Formally survey them (use survey monkey - it's so easy) and plan accordingly.

Why does everything have to be dumbed down? The parade of champions at NANs is a joke because everyone is so busy packing up their stuff and wandering out that hardly anyone stays to watch. What's wrong with having the kids put together a real show that's fun to do and gives us a break from all the competitive stuff? Just goes to show that all the complainers always spoil everything because then everything gets watered down to try to keep everyone happy. The parade of champions has always been one of the highlights of the weekend, and now we have to change it too because a few people (NT) -- are so worried about even fewer gate crashers, Sun, November 01, 10:08:59pm

It is not "dumbing it down"! The OP has a very valid point. I don't know the number of dancers/families at the O, but I am pretty sure it is very big MINORITY that actually attend the dinner dance. Clearly from all of the discussion on the boards, there are lots of varying views on what people want.         Numbers are my profession as well, and it is in fact a Minority. You can't take anybody out of the equation...if they wanted to attend the dinner dance they would stay. By leaving, they have made the decision not to attend. That is one of the "deciding not to attend for whatever reason" as noted above. Regardless, this is obviously a controversial subject and I think a survey of the ECR community would go a long way to figuring out what people really want. The other issue is that the room needs to be made available immediately for cleaning and setup for the dinner dance. As it is they usually open the doors late. No time to wait even a half hour for POC. (NT) -- more to it, Mon, November 02, 01:04:34am
Didn't the parade at one point perform at the "teen dance" as well as the dinner dance? I definitely remember this happening at least one year. Everyone should have access to see our champions. Since the POC is held at the dinner dance and a run thru at movie night would indicate that the dancers and their families are staying the night. They could hold another performance Sunday while the stage is being prep for choreography/drama or before the final awards of the weekend. This way the ones who are only in for teams and trad sets could have the opportunity to celebrate their champs as well. A POC before the final awards of the 2009 ECRO could be a great way to finish off the weekend. (NT) -- it's an option, Mon, November 02, 10:17:16am

I decided to not attend the dinner so I have no expectation of seeing the POC until it shows up on youtube. I'd love to see it but that isn't fair. Now, if my dd was in it, I would bust in and watch and no one could stop me, but since that is extremely unlikely I'll just have dinner with my friends. - A hard arobic work out will lower your immune system for a few hours afterwards. With the H1N1 virus that could prove very dangerous to the dancer who chooses to attend class or the O and not rest at home. This is not something to mess with as complications can develop quickly. Re: We had a huge workshop this weekend and many of our dancers (world medalists included) had to miss out because they were sick. TC sent out message before stating if you were not well, it wasn't worth the risk to attend. Through the weekend, several dancers who because sick left (long drive home) but didn't have any symptoms the day before. You just don't know you are sick til it hits you between the eyes.
