  • Just Added! -- Dm, Wed, October 03, 06:27:31pm
News Flash!!!!  It's "Second Chance Sunday" at the Kotelnicki Feis on October 14th!  We have added two categories of Second Chance opportunities to our Feis.

Preliminary Dancers: Prelim dancers who choose this additional option will have the opportunity to repeat their dances before a completely different panel of prestigious Adjudicators.  You may add the Preliminary Second Chance to your entry for a charge of $25.00 (exempt from maximum family fee). The competitions are listed in Feis Web under the number for your regular Preliminary group with the suffix "SC" added.

Open Dancers:  Want expanded feedback about your Set piece? The Open Second Chance option enables you to repeat your Set in front of three different Adjudicators with the emphasis on comments rather than place ranking.  Charge for this option is $15.00 (exempt from maximum family fee).  The competitions are listed in Feis Web under the number for your regular Open group with the suffix "SC" added.

These options are only available to those dancers who register (or have registered) for the Preliminary/Open competitions.

Register today for another opportunity to run through your steps prior to MARO.  Your Second Chance may be your best one!

    Thank you,

  • East Toronto Autumn Championships -- Alison, Tue, September 25, 12:51:17pm
Hello everyone thank you for signing up for the feis! We have posted a competitor list on our website and are two-thirds full for our solo competitions but only a quarter full for the premiere competition.

We understand that this is new for the Premiere parents so we will give them a chance to enter, however as this is our first time doing this format, if the numbers favour solo competitors we will increase that cap to allow for more dancers to be accommodated.

We hope to get more Premiere entrants as this is an excellent opportunity for the dancers so get those entries in soon!

  • East Toronto Autumn Championships -- Alison, Mon, September 17, 11:42:58am
The East Toronto Irish Arts Association brings you the East Toronto Autumn Championships - the very first Oireachtas style feis!

*the feis will run just like the Oireachtas with Premiere and Solo competitions in the same age groups as the O
*Boys/Gents will dance with Girls/Ladies is the only difference
*Please read our syllabus and talk to your teacher if you aren't sure how to enter - you enter just as you would for the Oireachtas
*Held at the Centennial College Culinary Arts Institute at 937 Progress ave in Scarborough - 2 large non slip stages
*all out of region judges - 100% recall in solos
*Premiere and Solo to dance in front of a 3 judge panel - get comments and test out that set!
*Premiere in the morning and Solos after lunch - all vendors, premiere awards and food options will be on the main floor marketplace to allow for less crowding in the ballrooms and flow of traffic
*sashes for top 5 in Premiere and Solo
    *Parade of Champs for Solo

*In order to present in one day what the Oireachtas does in 3 days the caps for entries are VERY LOW and as such not everyone will be able to be accomodated. We apologize in advance but feel having a positive experience for ECR dancers is paramount
*Entries open Monday September 24th at 9am
    website: www.easttorontochampionships.ca

Any questions that your teacher cannot answer please email me directly as I do not check this board on a regular basis.

Thank you in advance for your support of this new feis and we look forward to giving our ECR dancers a chance to Pra-Oireachtas :)

  • 2018 Easter Canadian Regional Oireachtas -- QuickFeis, Tue, August 28, 11:30:42am
    Dear Eastern Canadian Dancers!

I am Bettina, the owner of QuickFeis, and I am very honored and excited to have been selected to work with your regional Oireachtas this year.

In order for registration to go smoothly, may I ask anyone how plans to attend this year's Oireachtas to please make sure to have a QuickFeis account. Teachers will only be able to register dancers who have a valid QuickFeis account.

    This is really easy:
    Go to www.quickfeis.com
Click on the SUPPORT tab and make sure to follow all the instructions (including how to add competitors to your account - even if you are a single competitor within your family, you will need to do this extra step).

Each dance family should get their own account. When you add your competitor (dancer) be sure the following are absolutely correct:
    * Name (as you want it on your award)
    * Date of birth
    * Gender
    * School name - this can be tricky at times because there are other schools with similar names around - so please ask your teacher which school you should select. If your school is not on our list, please email me at quickfeis@gmail.com and I will add it to my list.

I'm looking forward to a great Oireachtas and to meeting a whole new group of wonderful dancers and their families :)

    Bettina

  • BACK-TO-BACK SEPTEMBER FEIS WEEKEND IN MINNESOTA! -- Mary T., Co-Chair, The Minnesota Feis 2018, Mon, August 20, 10:58:21pm
On Saturday, SEPTEMBER 29, we invite you to join us at the St. Paul RiverCentre on the banks of the Mississippi River in beautiful downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, for THE MINNESOTA FEIS 2018 (visit our web site at http://www.theminnesotafeis.org/ for great information). And then stick around for the ST. PAUL AUTUMN FEIS, on Sunday, SEPTEMBER 30 http://www.idpamn.org/

Registration is through http://www.feisworx.com/ . Competition on Saturday will start at 8:30 AM (opening ceremonies at 8:15 AM); Sunday’s competition will begin at 8:00 AM. The Championship stage will proceed from OLDEST to YOUNGEST dancers.

We are offering Trophy Special Set Dance competitions that are open to BOTH Preliminary Champ dancers and Prizewinner dancers who are preparing dances for the Mid-America Oireachtas. For those in U9, it will be traditional set; U10 and above will be non-traditional set.

Our dance adjudicators for this year:
    Kerry Broderick, New York
    Colleen Coyle Kelly, Pennsylvania
    Michael Patrick Gallagher, Arizona
    Martin Percival, Colorado
    Heather Timm, Ohio
    John Timm, Ohio

**The treble reel is one of the most fun things to do at a feis, and we are again scheduling these to make participation easier: Champ treble reels will be held throughout the day, and Novice/Prizewinner treble reels will be right at the end of the scheduled lunch break. All treble reel proceeds from The Minnesota Feis will go to support Breast Cancer Research. NEW THIS YEAR at the St. Paul Autumn Feis is a Hornpipe Special dance in memory of Áine O’Shea. Proceeds from this special will be sent to St. Francis Hospice in Blanchardstown in Dublin for the love and care they gave to her in her final days. We encourage everyone to register for both these specials that support such worthy causes!

Admission is FREE to the public, so bring your family and friends. Also, if you are bringing someone who is a non-dancer, but SINGS OR PLAYS AN INSTRUMENT (or does these in addition to dance!) there is competition for them as well! Just use the Feisworx system to register. Arts and Soda Bread are in there, too.

In addition to “feising,” there are many things to see and do in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and the surrounding area, including:
--We were among the last to find out, but Justin Timberlake is in town, and not just to see his Minnesota in-laws! There are still tickets available for his Sept. 28 and 29 shows.
--The Science Museum of Minnesota https://www.smm.org/, across the street from the RiverCentre.
--If you have younger ones, the newly remodeled Minnesota Children’s Museum in downtown St. Paul https://mcm.org/
--After a massive restoration effort, the re-opening of the Minnesota State Capitol building, with the second largest self-supported marble dome in the world, free tours http://www.mnhs.org/capitol/activities/tours
--The Cathedral of St. Paul, National Shrine of the Apostle Paul, on the hill overlooking the RiverCentre. Named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, the cathedral offers daily masses, and is open to visitors for sightseeing.
--St. Paul’s Lower Town is a rapidly growing area with shops, eateries, and the recently restored and re-opened major train hub, Union Depot. Restored to its 1920s grandeur, it’s worth a stop http://www.uniondepot.org/
--The nearby Mall of America https://www.mallofamerica.com/ with its vast array of shopping, dining, hotel, and entertainment experiences, including the indoor theme park Nickelodeon Universe and Sea Life Minnesota aquarium https://www2.visitsealife.com/minnesota/ only 15 minutes from the feis venue. NEW THIS YEAR: The water park hotel next to the Mall of America is now Great Wolf Lodge! https://www.greatwolf.com/minnesota
--One of the gems of St. Paul is Como Park, with the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, one of the few free zoos in the United States (free parking, too!): http://www.comozooconservatory.org/
--Over in Minneapolis, we have the Mill City Museum, which has a very “explosive” elevator ride and great views of the Stone Arch Bridge and Mississippi River from its cantilevered viewing platform: http://www.millcitymuseum.org/
--The Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden in Minneapolis, with its famous Cherry on the Spoon (okay, it’s Spoonbridge and Cherry, but nobody calls it that). There is also a giant blue chicken now, which we haven’t quite figured out… https://walkerart.org/visit/garden
--Take a cruise on a Mississippi Riverboat with the historic Padelford Riverboats https://riverrides.com/ or along the scenic St. Croix River at the Minnesota-Wisconsin border with the St. Croix Boat & Packet Co. http://www.stillwaterriverboats.com/
--For those traveling from the east, take in the beginning of autumn at the Wisconsin Dells on the way home! Check out http://www.wisdells.com/wisconsin-dells.htm for more info.

To avoid the Timberlake price hikes, we have created a hotel block at the new Delta by Marriott hotel, just 12 minutes from the venue. The booking link is available on our website http://www.theminnesotafeis.org/area-hotels.html We are also trying to arrange a few others!

Lots of fun for everyone, we hope you can join us!
