Hope they find a new T-Shirt/Hoodie Vendor for next year. Wood-Shamrock. Anyone notice any other brutal (or small) errors? When asked about it, all they said was, that was the information supplied. What a load of rubbish. -- They've got to go. Get someone that can do it right., Mon, November 16, 04:33:06pm

- Satisfaction is one thing. Making an error as serious as completely screwing up a school name is incompetent. (NT) -- ., Mon, November 16, 07:01:05pm
- Ummm ... did you ever think about the fact that someone had to provide the information to the T-Shirt company? How do you think they get all the names ... ummm, someone has to give it to them. And so, if the name is wrong ... someone gave it to them wrong. (NT) -- You really don't need to be that smart to understand that ..., Mon, November 16, 07:22:01pm
- Queue the apologist. Stupid is as stupid does. Do you seriously think someone from the region would send incorrect information like that? Be real. (NT) -- You really don't need to be that smart to understand that ..., Mon, November 16, 08:07:10pm
- The region doesn't supply the transfers, the vendor makes them up. It is possible the info supplied was wrong but I really can't see anyone in the region screwing up that badly, so it falls back to the vendor. (NT) -- nah, nah, nah, nah...... nah, nah, nah, nah...... hey, hey I don't buy., Mon, November 16, 08:12:55pm
- Ok Einstein ... How does the vendor know ALL the names of the dancers, and which dancers are from which schools ??? Are people really this stupid? Honestly. Do you think the vendor has any clue as to who the schools are without someone giving him this information. Do you not think that EVERY NAME and EVERY SCHOOL is given to him electronically by the Region? (NT) -- I thought Canadians were smarter than this ... wow!! I mean there is dumb, and then there is DUMB !!!, Mon, November 16, 09:41:55pm
- There's dumb and Dumb - then there's rude and just plain pig ignorant rude. Honestly, don't buy the damn thing and shut up already. (NT) -- hmph, Mon, November 16, 11:18:30pm
- So, you ignorant cow. See Rose Johnson's post below and shut-up. (NT) -- Wait, I hear you being called. sooooey., Tue, November 17, 07:42:41am
- Back atcha. See Rose Johnson's post and then go away. Your rudeness is exceeded only by your total ignorance. (NT) -- .God Bless Canucks., Tue, November 17, 07:47:58am
- speaking from experience, it probably was an oversight by the person supplying the info. it's very easy to overlook even the most blatant errors when you are concerned with the overall look. probably an honest mistake, but things need to be triple checked. (NT) -- works in printing, Mon, November 16, 09:46:04pm
- You must be......'THE VENDOR". Shame on you. (NT) -- ,, Mon, November 16, 08:22:52pm
- Completely agree. I didn't even know about the spelling error, just checked them out and thought I was not paying $55 for a long sleeve shirt (not even a "sweater") and no nice logo. I thought they were crap! (NT) -- 1st time ever I haven't bought a sweater., Mon, November 16, 07:53:12pm

When asked about it, all they said was, that was the information supplied. What a load of rubbish. -- Rose Johnson, TCRG (Assistant Regional Director), Mon, November 16, 11:42:16pm
- We were very disappointed that she didnt' have any long sleeve T-s. Asked about it & was told that she's from the west coast and no-one wears long sleeve shirts there. Perhaps as a suggestion for next year, when the committee gets quotes for apparel, should specify what apparel. Also, are there no local companies that would have been willing to set up a table? We have some excellent local screen printing companies with excellent artists (NT) -- just my $.02, Tue, November 17, 07:42:04am
- There were no dancer's names on the transfers either, only school names. (NT) -- was DD's first "O" and was very much looking forward to seeing her name on an "O" sweater. :-(, Tue, November 17, 08:52:43am

Wow! There are some strong emotions running here -- Loved the O, Tue, November 17, 09:12:59am
Between score sheets, wrong entries, incorrect O wear, slippery stages, I think everyone is loosing site of what a great weekend we just had.
I enjoyed the weekend both socially and competitively. I watched some excellent dancing from all schools. I loved the dinner dance. I completely enjoyed watching teams from those who could barely get through the dance to those that blew me away.
There will always be complainer and those who feel it was unfair or they were robbed, but I celebrated this weekend. No recall for my dd but she congratulated her friends, she worked hard and she is more determined than ever to get that recall next year.
Please focus on the good from the weekend and not all the bad. From being a dancer years ago to a dancing mom now, I can tell you that this Oireachtas was one of the best I have ever been to. I loved the certificates. What a brilliant idea. To have every dancer leave with some recognition of their hard work was first class. The introduction of the traditional sets was a smart call. It didn't prolong the Sunday schedule and an entire new group of dancers had the opportunity to participate.
I am walking away from the 2009 Oireachtas with a great feeling of community and spirit from everything that happened. I truly wish everyone else could too.
Merry Christmas

Okay....what was up with stages? Dancers were slipping left ,right and center all weekend. You would think that for such a prestigiuos competition that they would have the decency to provide decent flooring. Fortunately any dancers who slipped yesterday did not get any deductions. But those who danced on friday did not receive the same. They make enough money on these events that they could invest in some flooring. -- for the safety of all dancers!, Sun, November 15, 08:29:03am

You would think that for such a prestigiuos competition that they would have the decency to provide decent flooring. Fortunately any dancers who slipped yesterday did not get any deductions. But those who danced on friday did not receive the same. They make enough money on these events that they could invest in some flooring. -- Peter, Sun, November 15, 11:32:54am
- totally were deductions. I know that for sure. (NT) -- !, Sun, November 15, 05:21:04pm
- I agree, no way that my dancer should have got the score she did after almost falling on a piece of sticky duct tape. Definatley squashed her hopes this year and she has always beena major contender. (NT) -- Points were deducted, she does not think the judges realized why she almost fell, they were not watching at the time., Sun, November 15, 05:32:56pm
- Also agree, champ DD knows when she has danced well and knows how she compares to her peers. Her marks in the round she slipped in were way below her other rounds and she felt otherwise it was her best round. (NT) -- clearly deducted, Sun, November 15, 06:05:04pm
- I saw the rolls of marley as they were being rolled and they were warped. Being held somewhere probably cold they needed to heat up to be taped after resting but I think there was little time to do this in the morning. Maybe this should be rethought next year. Not the fault of the poeple who helped lay the floor. (NT) -- Question the organizers., Sun, November 15, 05:36:53pm
- I agree...Same thing for my dd. Her marks were very consistant other than dance she slipped in. The kids all said it felt really slippery after warming up on Stage B. (NT) -- such a shame, Sun, November 15, 06:41:30pm
- My dd who has never fallen before today during a comp. and who also has qualified for Nationals 3 years running, once placing and once recalling fell. She danced great but did not qualify for NANS this year. You knew she was marked down because of her fall. Now I peeved knowing others had the same problem. (NT) -- But, there is nothing we can do, right?, Sun, November 15, 07:42:25pm
- All the competitors had the same stage conditions to contend with. My dancers have fallen in past competitions and have still done well. Slips and falls that are obviously not the fault of the dancer are not deducted. Neither of my kids fell but still had oddball marks. That's what happens when you have 9 different opinions. For my kids, the very low marks and the very high marks were from the the same adjs for both my kids so I can only assume that its style variance or something of that sort . (NT) -- u, Mon, November 16, 02:38:11am
- Aha! But not every kid dances in the same spots. (NT) -- Still not fair, Mon, November 16, 07:37:11am
- I saw many dancers sliding but didn't go down, so yes, everyone had a slippery stage. If you aren't completely centered you stand a greater chance of falling if the floor is at all slippery. However, if I could see that, the judges could also see it as they were closer. I know that no fault falls are not deducted because dd fell at a previous O and still got 1st in the round. Maybe the other dancers in your competition had a great round - (NT) -- it is possible, you know., Mon, November 16, 07:51:24am
- Right. So the special ones just happened to find the one spot on the stage that was extra slippery, and everyone else managed to avoid it. Yeah, whatever. When a dancer falls twice in the exact same part of her dance, that's not the floor, (NT) -- it's dancer error., Mon, November 16, 01:50:00pm
- No one is taking into consideration how slipping or almost slipping affects the dancers' attitude. It must make some of them extra careful, and therefore not "going for it" when taking leaps or toe walks, etc. (NT) -- JMHO, Mon, November 16, 10:00:35am

Of course you are, it's Oireachtas time! BIG HUGE GOOD LUCK to all dancers competing this weekend, and all dance parents currently having anxiety attacks ;)
Would some free stuff help? Just tell us what's stressing you out over at our Facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/I-Heart-That-Dance/9887371055
TWO gift certificates of $25 will be awarded, one by random draw and one for the best answer, as determined by how much it makes us giggle. We'll do the draw on November 20th, so folks can use their winnings for Christmas presents if they like.
And yes, the gift certificates are for the shop (http://www.iheartthatdance.com) and not for Starbucks or Timmy's or the beer store, sorry. I'll see what I can do for next year, LOL.

”Champtrax” – a new CD from Mark Arrington. This has some unique features: -- Mark Arrington, Wed, November 11, 07:27:08pm
-The first 12 tracks are An Coimisiun championship length tunes played once, twice, and three times through, so a prelim/open dancer can practice their steps up to three times without stopping and still have a definite ending. If dancing in succession, the tunes change or end when the steps end. The last four tracks are “standard” long tracks of tunes like most feis CDs.
-It’s very traditional, as in The Chieftains, Bothy Band, Altan, De Danann etc.
-I play all the instruments except for the squeaky chair and the bark (see below).
-I didn’t realize until the final mix that my dog Merry (bichon frise), makes an appearance in one of the tunes! The first person to find Merry will receive a free copy of my set dance CD “Kick It Up A Notch!”
It’s available on my site www.markarringtonmusic.com. At the ECR oireachtas you can get it from Faery Reel. In a month or so the MP3 version will be available on iTunes and every other MP3 download site.

- Re: So much for freedom of speech eh mod?? -- NIAB, Tue, November 03, 02:47:50pm
- Freedom of speech ends where it offends others' freedoms. This board is a place to come and talk to others where we can ask questions and gain information and help eachother. Such statements as the one that was made will not only offend people not from that school, but those from there as well. I feel ashamed to be from there and I cannot fathom anyone that I know from that school, parents or children, to be posting such things. (NT) -- BFOC Dancer, Tue, November 03, 02:50:29pm
- There is nothing wrong with saying a school "rules". Everybody takes everything to an extreme. They read their own tone into the message. What is it was meant in a "light hearted" competitive way?? You have no way of knowing because you didn't hear the words and you don't know the nature of the person that said it. So, what everyone does is think the worst. That is absolutely brutal. (More inside) -- ECR'er, Tue, November 03, 03:56:26pm
- It got to be a little much about this particular school , and Im sick of it. (NT) -- sorry this post got removed, I do think it was a bit disrespecful, Tue, November 03, 04:48:19pm
- I understand what you are saying, but very fact that we can't hear the words as you said means that certain posts can take a downward spiral in hurry depending on how the inital responders react. When you have parents, kids& a competitive activity, you see both the good & the bad side of people. I've been around since KDrew's board (before the voy ones) and I've seen many many seemingly innocent posts turn nasty and hurtful. While I agree with free speech I do believe a certain amount of moderation is required in a forum such as this. I was the one who emailed the mod a requested deletion (NT) -- Flame away, Tue, November 03, 06:37:20pm

- My point exactly. (NT) -- -, Tue, November 03, 10:44:45pm
- The controversy started with someone saying their school will rule at Oireachtas. That's not rubbing anything in anyone's face. It's bravado. It may, if anything, result in egg on the face or they back it up with high placings and wins. Who cares? It's just light hearted banter. (NT) -- ,, Wed, November 04, 01:13:29pm

- When you're regarded as being #1 or the biggest (whether it's actually true or not) people will take shots. Happens in sports, politics, the school yard, work, religion, within the family unit, all aspects of life. A proclamation is just that. I don't believe the OP was starting crap.
