I left downtown Toronto @ 830pm. I decided to risk going the QEW route & it was fairly clear. even St. Catherines was fine when I got there, but no lanes were closed.

I just wanted to update anyone who was curious, I know I usually am for those kinds of questions. See everyone @ the Feis.

and I need some help with the wording. My dh is no better, LOL
My dd and I are traveling to the All Scotlands and she will be missing 7 days off school, I was asked to write a formal letter to the principal and her teacher explaining where and why. I also wish to ask the teacher to send some reading material, I would ask for homework but I don't want to travel with heavy study/work books, she is in Gr. 8 and I don't think I could carry her school bag. Any suggestions?
    TIA!

  • What is the process for errors in results? -- Beginner Mom, Mon, September 14, 11:46:36pm
What is the usual protocol in Irish Dancing when there is an error with the results? My daughter was placed first in a dance (Advanced beginner) on Saturday, and we received the marks, showing her first. When the results were put on the web she was shown in second. I contacted the feis and they said my daughter was given first place in error, and the other dance (who didn't even appear in the top five initially) was really first.

I know that in other sports if there is a mistake in tabulating the judges marks, the person gets added (as in tied for the place they were supposed to get) and nobody gets bumped (except maybe at an olympic level). I haven't told my daughter yet but I know someone else is going to mention it. Anyone else have experience with this happening?

  • Thank you Kitchener... -- ., Sun, September 13, 11:18:46pm
Just a thank you to the folks in Kitchener (BFOC) who put on a pretty great feis for our region on Saturday. The weather was in your favour so the BBQ was much appreciated. The venue as always was intimate and the air conditioning was working. And although the champ stages ran til late in the day, the results for each group came swiftly and there were no hours of waiting to be had for any group of dancers. As always your trophies are lovely and your stage helpers smiling and polite. I think if one were to offer any advice it would be to find some way to replace or update your stages. The two small stages for the grades need to be retired and the two champ stages were slippery which resulted in many spectacular falls. I hope no one was seriously hurt, but certainly I saw at least 6 falls myself.
Overall, a great day for our region and so many fabulous performances from our dancers.
