The issue was the venue normally used for this event was not available as has been stated several times already in previous comments and the feis had to make do with what they could get. Not ideal but still done by 5pm. Grades were done even earlier than that because they were tearing up the floor by 3:30pm. With more than a dozen years in Competitive Irish dance including international competitions and majors, this was not atypical. I have been to a lot worse in a lot worse venues but still had a great time! I have been to a feis where there are no vendors for food or other items... or air conditioning and its 99F..where if you go out of the venue they let someone in to replace you and lock the door regardless if you are a dancer or not.. or an outdoor feis where it rained the day before or the day of with muddy fields and slippery wet stages or it's blistering hot with no shade and your little pop up tent is sweltering to the point it's useless... or a feis that ran from 8am until 10pm at night. If it's one thing Irish dance has taught us, it's patience. You will enjoy yourself a lot more if you feis with the expectation that not everything will run perfectly. Volunteers make mistakes, don't have all the answers, get flustered, get confused, but they do their best to run a feis so your dancer has a chance to compete. Every person working that feis was a volunteer that gave up their time and their day to run it.
