The TC only looks at those 2 girls in class, only makes comments to them, she said. I also see it - those moms brag about the firsts and the TC ignores me. Is this the same at the other schools? Talk to your tc. She needs to know both the kid and mom are
    ready for the intensity.
Make sure your daughter can handle constructive feedback. Has she teared up on the tc yet?

Touch base before a feis to get instuction and submit results afterward.
It takes a very outgoing kid. If your child is quiet then talk to teacher about her eagerness. Mine wasn't ready because she thought tc was mad if she gave her corrections

Things are different now with every mom and kid wanting to be Brogan McKay.
There are two types of successful kids in that movie as an example of what works. One very outgoing and the other work intense with a mom who very much communicated goals.
don't expect a TC to assume you are either if you haven't even talked to her about goals yet and are taking the word of an 8 year old as your sole evaluation of your schools performance

I think we do a disservice to little kids. Not everyone at 8 has the fire to be on the top box but most want it ( that's the way we lay out success to them)

Honestly look at your daughter. If she is skipping around loving the idea of being a dancer then let her be. Ask her what her favorite things are about dance. If she is doing focused practice at home, taking her teachers corrections to her AND others and working on it Without being prompted too then you and her are ready for phase 2.
Establish that your kid is willing to do the work and wants to. Now lay out your time and monetary budget. It is expensive in both these areas. Don't push a kid for a goal You yourself aren't going to commit to. It can be done cheaper in money but it will cost more in time. If you have little of either start saving and let her mature another year.
When that is in place, have conversations with your teacher on semis, what she needs to do. There is a plural there, it's conversations as each milestone is reached. Chart it out for your daughter, leave it on the fridge and then step away.Give the teacher time to evaluate her progress once you've established with her what your daughter wants to work towards. Stop comparing. Thervare kids ready at 8 and some not. My daughter wasn't and I went through your process.
What I came to realize is we forget it is a group setting not 25 individual one on ones.
Don't ask leading questions " is x kid getting more time" ask what did she tell her and how did you do with correcting.
Two final thoughts, dance is like life, it isn't fair, it involves setting goals and knowing you have to work, and not wasting time in the weeds wording about what other people get that you dont. Enjoy that they are there on a similar journey.
Yes op, answer 2 is correct sometimes but important lessons in maturity are with working through it and not ship jumping as your first thought. You'll know difinatively down the road in a year if that is the case, you're not there yet.
