's message, "IF a dancer Moves to a new city, do they serve a transfer suspension. A dancers say they are off their ban after moving. Thought the transfer was waived if you moved more then 50 miles away." on Mon, February 22, 02:23:17pm
3.1 Transfer/Restyling Rules
3.1.1 When a new pupil joins a registered teacher’s class and he/she has been the pupil of another
registered teacher within the previous year, the dancing authority of the Region in which the
pupil resides must be informed by the new teacher in writing.
3.1.2 Where there is no Regional Council the notification must be sent either to An Coimisiún itself
or to the Authority (see Rule 3.1.1) appointed by An Coimisiún to deal with transfers in the
3.1.3. When a teacher receives dancers from another Organisation, they must notify their Regional
Council. (Passed December 2011)
3.1.4 Where a pupil, formerly the pupil of a registered CLRG teacher, joins the class of another
registered CLRG teacher, the new teacher must not enter that pupil in any registered
competition until six months have elapsed (unless the pupil is allowed to compete by reason of
Rules 3.1.5, 3.1.6, or 3,1,7). The six-month period will be calculated from the date on which
notification of the pupil joining the new class is received in writing by the Regional Council or
other appropriate authority.
184.108.40.206 Where a pupil leaves a CLRG teacher to go to another organization and returns to
CLRG, they will not have a restyling period if returning to their original CLRG
teacher. However if said pupil returns to a different CLRG teacher, the six month restyling
period will apply.
Where a dancer comes to a CLRG teacher from another Irish dance organization and has
never attended a CLRG teacher’s class, a restyling period may be imposed at the
discretion of the new teacher. (Effective date 1st March, 2015)
3.1.5 A teacher need not withhold a pupil from competition where the change of teacher occurs
because of: -
(a) Death or retirement of former teacher.
(b) Failure of former teacher to re-register with An Coimisiún where that teacher was
the sole teacher in the School
3.1.6 A teacher may apply to the Regional Council or appropriate Authority for a pupil to be exempt
from 3.1.4 because of:
(a) Significant change of place of normal residence of the pupil
(b) Permanent closure of a dancing school normally attended by the pupil and where
that school does not have another class within a reasonable distance of the pupil’s
3.1.7 A teacher may apply to An Coimisiun for a pupil/pupils to be exempt from Rule 3.1.4 where
extreme circumstances may indicate that such an exemption should be granted.
3.1.8 Where a pupil has not attended a class of a teacher registered with CLRG, or a registered
teacher from any other Irish Dancing organisation for at least one year, that pupil need not be
withheld from competition. A period of at least one year MUST have elapsed from the date on
which the former pupil last attended the previous class. (Passed May 2013......effective 1st June
3.1.9 Where a Bun grad/Beginner dancer is one month or less in a class the Rule 3.1.4 (6 months)
does not apply.
3.1.10 A transfer cannot be recognised unless a child attends the class of a new teacher.
3.1.11 Where a pupil is asked to leave a dancing school by the teacher, for whatever reason, the
pupil’s new teacher will be subject to Rule 3.1.4
3.1.12 Where a pupil leaves the class of a registered teacher (CLRG), joins the class of an Irish
Dancing teacher (CLRG) in another region and later returns to his/her former teacher, Rule
3.1.4 does not apply.
However. where a pupil leaves the class of a registered teacher (CLRG),joins the class of an
Irish Dancing teacher (CLRG) in another region and later returns to the original region but
joins another registered teacher (not his/her former teacher) Rule 3.1.4 will apply
3.1.13 If a pupil leaves the class of one registered teacher, goes to the class of another registered
teacher, and later returns to the class of the original teacher, Rule 3.1.4 applies as this is
considered to be two moves.
