Some of you might ask yourselves what are the corresponding signs of the Chinese astrological signs in Western astrology. I give you them below, and also a summary of my statistics and observations:
Aries.......= Dragon - April
Taurus......= Snake - Mai
Gemini......= Horse - June
Cancer......= Goat - July
Leo.........= Monkey - August
Virgo.......= Cock - September
Libra.......= Dog - October
Scorpio.....= Pig - November
Sagittarius.= Rat - December
Capricorn...= Ox or Buffalo - January
Aquarius....= Tiger - February
Pisces......= Rabbit or Cat - March
According to the Chinese astrologists, we all have 5 astrological signs:
a) One sign for the hour of our birth (In western astrology, it is called « ascendant »).
b) One sign of the day of our birth
c) One sign for the week of our birth
d) One sign for the month of our birth (In western astrology, it is called the « solar sign »)
e) One sign for the year of our birth.
Chinese people, like the Native Red Indians, are using animal symbolism. Their Astrology has 12 animals.
But, they also take account of 5 elements. : The WOOD element, the FIRE element, the EARTH element, the METAL element, and the WATER element. Every two years, the element of the year is changing. This year 2009 is the YEAR OF THE OX OF EARTH. In twelve years, in 2021, the Year of the Ox will be in the element METAL.
2008 : Rat of Earth
2009 : Ox of Earth
2010 : Tiger of Metal
2011 : Rabbit of Metal
2012 : Dragon of Water
2013 : Snake of Water
2014 : Horse of Wood
2015 : Goat of Wood
2016 : Monkey of Water
2017 : Cock of Water
2018 : Dog of Earth
2019 : Pig of Earth
2020 : Rat of Metal
2021 : Ox of Metal
2022 : Tiger of Water

According to the different elements, the trends of the same sign will change slightly. For example, some one who is born in a sign in the Metal element will be more firm, less flexible, than someone born in the same sign but in another element.
People under the six signs Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Cock are people who are in the National perspectives, compared to the people under the other six signs Dog, Pig, Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit who will have a larger international perspectives. Generally speaking, the one who is travelling the most (international trips – distances of 1 000 miles or more) is the Rat/Sagittarius. Horse/Gemini is a traveller on a national scale (smaller trips on distances of about 200 miles for example).
Because we all have 5 astrological signs, the other 4 signs will slightly change the tendencies of a sign. Some elements are in « sympathy » with certain elements, and will be in « conflict » with other elements. It is like matter and anti-matter, if they are to be mix together, they will be destructive to each other.

The fire is in sympathy with the earth; but is in conflict with the metal
The Earth is in sympathy with the metal; but is in conflict with the water
The metal is in sympathy with the water; but is in conflict with the wood
The water is in sympathy with the wood; but is in conflict with the fire
To know what will be the tendencies of your destiny for the New year coming, always look the events that happen to you in December, and especially the first 12 days in the sign of Sagittarius, because Sagittarius/Rat is a sign which is SHOWING THE DIRECTION; it is showing the tendencies. The 12 first days in the sign are like the pictures of the next 12 months. For example, if you have health problems in his month, then you can be sure that you will have several times some health problems during the year coming.
Also, it is as if your map of destiny has been fixed on a photographic paper on the next days that have followed your birth. For example the 40th day after your birth, with all the positions of the planets, will show the tendencies of your destiny when you will be 40 years old.

Fire (Noon – Summer) : Nuclear accidents, attacks, terrorism, end of a dictator, forest fires, building fires. In Ox year : scandals, fights. Events involving action men and militaries.
Earth (Afternoon – End of summer): earth and boulder heaps, earthquakes, mud slides, fuel oil pollution. A year for the business men and finance men affairs or scandals. Sex scandals. Change of energies and social collapse, consequences of dictatorship, censorship, control and manipulations, money greed, corruptions, jealousies, spying, conspiracies, judgements.
Metal (Evening – Autumn): Railways, trains or subway accidents, boats or submarines accidents. A year with justice affairs, involving men of law. Integrity, purity, and firmness are in action.
Water ( Night – Winter) : Floods, snow avalanches, water pollution by petrol, etc. Heavy Frost. Cold temperatures in winter. Craftsmen, artisans and business men are active in this year.
