Confusion is on the planet because of a lack of teachers to explain things.
About Darkness or Light, the more a person is evolved, the more he is aware that he has THE CHOICE between staying in the mediocrity of the untruthfulness, duality and keeping a negative destructive earthly personality and mentality, or applying a SELF-DISCIPLINE to himself, so that his poles of interest will stay at a higher level, in the clarety, in the transparency, in the frankness, in the positiveness. Someone who has honour and self esteem will automatically know what to do in any situation and where to stay!
He also may discipline himself about the choice of his friends, as the spirit guides with great wisdom advise too, so that HIS SOUL WILL NOT BE INFLUENCED by those with still destructive personalities.
When someone decide DELIBERATELY to disobey (free will of disobedience to the spirits) to the spirit guide and not to get ride of some negative leeches as the spirit guide has advised, then THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PERSON IS TOTALLY INVOLVED in the hurt caused by these jealous leeches. I have seen the amazing situation where the negative jealous leeches were fed with more negativeness, more division play, asking them to spy, etc. and pouring crap on absents' head when speaking to the leeches to make their days with the amount of muck they daily need in order to have climax!
Off course Darkness & Light will always exist on the planet (call an individual or the planet "a coin with two sides" if you wish). But a person can decide to stay in the light and to not feed his bad tendencies or feed the bad tendencies of others! There is a difference between an occasional negative thought (a doubt for example) or an occasional negative emotion that we keep for ourself, and to have a negative destructive action because of the negative thoughts & negative emotions which are not controlled.
It is an identical situation as for a good father with a good common sense, when he has to teach the right direction to his kids. An intelligent one would certainly not give his support to the untruthfulness or the negativeness of his kids, unless he wants to create destructive monsters.
What I find serious is when some confused people with Huge Ego are in position of directing people toward more negativeness (in the politic, in the police, in the government, or other job with authority position). Spirit guides told us that it was in such institutions where we could find the dark force...
