Subject: A New Vision for Lehigh Football!

Below is a letter to the editor I am sending today (Friday, March 6) to all major newspapers via printed copy and fax, to all major sports outlets and sports columnists via email and print.

Behold, the potential for a new vision for Lehigh University football! Now Lehigh plays in something generally referred to as 1AA, a knock-kneed version of the corrupt Bowl Championship Series. A distant poor cousin whose existence serves in some peculiar way to justify the existence of the semi-pro programs.

I contend Lehigh can take a different direction. It can play schools at any level, and none. One referee will be needed, because an honor code will rule. Perhaps a wide receiver will halt for a moment to listen to a professor discoursing on the sidelines about ancient Rome, and get boinked on the head! Ha ha!

Perhaps an old alumnus will come out and play QB for a series, even if he was just an anonymous lineman!

Children might run out on the field, dogs might cavort, or perhaps the game will be called because both sides agree it is too beautiful a day to waste on competition!

The current alignment is faulty and corrupt. Schools that play at this bastardized level are doomed to be second-class. Lehigh can set the tone and others will follow.

If Lehigh takes the bold move to drop all league affiliations, all formal rankings, others will follow. Other alumni agree with me.

Lehigh, take the step! How grand it will be!

The actual letter has been signed. Most of you who see it in print will know me, quite a few will scorn it, but many of you know, this is what is, and what must be. In some form.

The great orator is representative of about 98% of the dweebs that will hold LU football down. Say good bye to Fordham Holy Cross and Lafayette. All will go scholarship. LU will have to find another place to play
